Smashin Fashion!

It's time for fashion! I am officially in love with the mismatch. Many people tried to talk me out of it. And I went back and forth...we're discovering that sometimes, too much time can be a bad thing. Instead of renting a tux for the gents, and choosing a gown for the ladies which we found to be a little too formal for our style, we decided to outfit the boys in suspenders and let the girls pick their own green dress! We sent them inspiration pages, which looked like this:

And sent them a fashion worksheet with swatches we "obtained" from our local Home Depots. That's right, two of them. Cleaned them out. Those look like this.

With a little letter telling them the plan. I asked the girls to send me a quick pic before they buy the dress of their choice but other than that, have a ball! We're providing the boys the brown suspenders and green tie. My hope is that I can buy the mismatch ties to match the girls dresses. Feel free to costume it up, we said. This IS New Orleans after all. Oh, and what are we wearing? Well I can't show you but I am wearing my grandmothers dress, a sixty year old lace and tulle GOWN that is being cleaned right now. Thank you, Econodry! And Jason? Well at this point, we're thinking a vest. And we are loving the pinstripes.
A little less than six months to go now!

Groomsmen Gifts!

Groomsmen's gifts received and all, here's what we sent. Miniature crown bottles with a cigar and a little card. You can see it! Why am I describing this to you? And pay no attention to the mess behind it!

New Bridesmaid, New Dolly!

So with a new bridesmaid, comes a new bridesmaid dolly!

Meet Suzy!
And her two kitty blobs, Hans & Aurora.
She loves them sooo much!

You'll love her too!

I'm creating a page to introduce everyone to the bridal party and that should be up soon. As soon as we can rectify the technical connectivity issues.
And yes, we are still working on the boys packages. You'd think with how long it's taking us, they'd be amazing...and I wish that were true.

I also bought this lovely little parasol for second lining out.
Vanilla Skies Parasol from Modcloth.

And the skimmer hats.
Which will receive some tender loving diy-care before you see them again.

And now we have no money.

I'm also working on a couple of special dollies for a surprise. And I've created more than 20 ft. of pennant banners. And there is still so much to do!
On that note....

Super Fun Weekend

This weekend, we had a special visitor! Jeanne, Jason's mom, came to stay with us for a quick weekend visit. After a long night at the Old Point Bar on Thursday evening, after she arrived; Elsa, Greta & Jeanne met our photographer, Elizabeth at the venue for a quick walk through. Thank you so much, ladies for helping lay out the space. You really were an invaluable resource!

After the walk through, we headed to high tea at The Windsor Court Hotel for tea and sandwiches and scones and pastries. SO YUMMY!
We totally heart this Cover Girl lipstain!

Then Friday night we met Elsa at Kerry's Irish Pub to watch Derek play with his new band.
Foot & Friends. Another late night follows.

Saturday we shopped, and then did our nails and watched movies while waiting for 6:15pm to roll around so we could go to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Stella.
Dinner was, and always is, amazing there.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Jeanne on Sunday. But we met Elizabeth in the park for our engagement shoot. It was super fun and I can't wait to see the photos! Of course, I'll post them when they're ready. Thank you so much for coming to visit, Jeanne. Only wish you could have stayed longer. We had a blast and we hope you did too!

Reason no. 12 to come to our wedding...

These little beauties!
Wrist Corsages for the ladies

Boutonnieres for the gentlemen

I made them this weekend with faux flowers and leftover ribbon and notions and such. The plan is to make them available at the guest book table when guests first enter. Grab one, tie or pin it on and come on in!

As if you actually needed a reason...

I'm all out of paper...

Because the save the dates are officially stamped and in the mail. These are the lovely envelopes made from leftover scrapbook paper I had. (Not sure why I had so much, I don't even scrapbook!). But I'm a firm, firm, firm believer in "waste not want not". So in your lovely handmade envelopes, which you will carefully open, you will find a hand-designed, hand-made magnet! I'll post that when most of you have received yours.
Postedit: 1.20.10 - I think most of you have yours up so here's what the magnet looks like:

Hand designed, printed, and cut by me. That means don't laugh at them.

Did you get one of these?

If you received one of these handmade dollies with a letter explaining how much you mean to me then you are my best friends in the world and I'm honored to have you by my side at the wedding. Let's introduce you to the world, special ladies of my life!
The painter dolly is for my maid of honor, Elsa, my mother and best friend.
The navy hat dolly is not supposed to be in there. I made her as a good luck charm to a friend who's trying to get preggers. Which is why her little dolly hands are on her extended dolly belly.
The strawberry blond in the middle is for my best friend who I've known since I was four, Jennifer. The brunette in the middle with the rockin' socks is for Elle, my little sister and jr. bridesmaid. The strawberry cutie is for Hannah, my best friend and half-sister from high school. And the little pink haired dolly at the right side is for Alana, our niece and flower girl.

And that's the fierce and fabulous females of the the wedding party.
Happy New Year and stay tuned for the groomsmen introductions.
